Dal Palak


Dal palak is a healthy, delicious and one of the most made Palak recipes in India. It is a dish where lentils are cooked with palak and tempered with basic Indian spices. It is made in almost all regions of India with slight variations.

INGREDIENTS 
  • Palak leaves, finely chopped - 5-6 
  • Ghee - 1tbsp
  • Jeera/cumin seeds - 1tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/2tbsp
  • Green chillies, finely chopped - 1nos
  • Onions, finely chopped - 1
  • Tomatoes, finely chopped - 2
  • Toor dal, cooked - 1/2 cup
  • Dry red chillies - 2nos
  • Asafoetida/hing - 1/2tsp
  • Lemon juice - 1tsp
  • Salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS
  • Take a pan and add 1tsp of ghee on medium heat
  • Add 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds. Once they start crackling, add 1tsp of ginger garlic paste
  • Add the chopped green chillies and the dry red chillies. Add 1/4 tsp of asafoetida (hing) & the chopped onions
  • Saute until the onions are translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes. Saute for a min
  • Add the chopped palak leaves. Mix well. Once the leaves are mushy, add the cooked dal
  • Add some water if required(Only if the consistency of the dal is too thick). Add some salt to taste and 1tsp of lemon juice
  • Mix it well and close the lid. Let it cook for 5-7 mins.
Tada! Healthy and tasty, Dal palak is ready to be served.
