Momos is a type of steamed, filled Dumplings popular accross Indian subcontinent. Momos can be prepared in variety of ways. Some differ in stuffing, some differ in the type of dough. Here is one of popular version of it, Paneer momos!

For dough
- Maida(Refined flour) - 200gm
- Salt to taste
- Oil - 1tbsp
- Water for kneading
For stuffing
- Oil - 1 and 1/2 tbsp
- Finely chopped garlic- 1/2tbsp
- Finely chopped ginger - 1/2tbsp
- Finely chopped spring onion - 1 tbsp
- Finely chopped onion - 1/2 nos
- Finely chopped cabbage - 3 tbsp
- Grated Paneer / cottage cheese - 50gm
- Grated cheese - 50gm
- Crushed pepper - 1/2 tsp
- Soy sauce - 1/2tbsp
- Salt - to taste
For chutney
- Tomatoes - 2
- Dry red chillies - 5
- Finely chopped ginger - 1/2tbsp
- Finely chopped garlic - 1tbsp
- Soy sauce - 1/2tbsp
- Oil - 1/2tbsp
- Sugar - 1tsp
- Salt to taste
- Lemon juice - 1tsp
INSTRUCTIONS
Stuffing preparation
- Firstly, combine all the ingredients for dough and knead it into a smooth dough. Cover it with a wet cloth and keep it aside for about 20 mins
- Meanwhile take a pan and add 2tsp of oil on medium heat. Add ginger and garlic and saute for a minute
- Now add the finely chopped onions, cabbage, spring onions and saute for 2-3 mins until the veggies are translucent
- Add the grated paneer and mix it well and saute for 2 mins
- Add soy sauce, some salt and crushed pepper. Mix it well. Leave the mixture on low flame for a min and then keep it aside.
Chutney Preparation
- Take small cooker and fill 2 cups of water. Keep it on medium heat
- Chop the tomatoes into 2 equal halves and put them into the water. Add the dry red chillies. Close the lid and leave it for 5-7 mins
- Then take the tomatoes out, let it cool a bit. Peel the skin of the tomatoes. Transfer these peeled tomatoes into a blender along with the red chillies
- Grind the mixture into a fine paste
- Take a pan and add 1tsp of oil on medium heat. Add garlic and ginger. Saute until the raw smell of ginger garlic is gone
- Add the ground paste into this. Add 1tsp of soy sauce. Add 1tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of sugar
- Mix it well and add 1tsp of lemon juice at the end
Momos Preparation
- Take a small amount of dough and make a small ball. Dust it with maida and roll thin
- Place a tsp of prepared paneer stuffing in center. And a bit of grated cheese on top
- Start pleating from one side. Pleat until you reach ¾ of the circle. Now seal the pleated part with other part and secure tight
- Heat a steamer and arrange the momos in the tray without touching each other
- Steam the momos for 12-15 minutes
Plate it and serve it hot!
